Jewish entrepreneur Leiba Bacheles launches the production of spirits. His drinks quickly gain popularity among the aristocracy of Galicia and Europe.

Leiba Bacheles was baptized and became a Catholic, Leopold Maximilian Baczewski.

JÓZEF ADAM BACZEWSKI

A descendant of the founder and creator of the J.A. Baczewski brand. He transformed local production in Lviv into an international brand and was among the first to apply large-scale marketing, a recognizable identity, and an export strategy.

HISTORY

JÓZEF ADAM BACZEWSKI

Persecution and the change of regimes in 1939 force the family to leave Lviv and move what remained of the looted production to Austria.

2025

 The J.A. Baczewski brand still exists in Europe, while the manufactory site in Lviv has been given a new life.

HOW WE ENVISION THE SPACE IN 4 YEARS

A destination and a landmark: easy to reach by car, easy to park, a place to hold a meeting, dine at a restaurant, play padel, and use a range of other services.

The space is always busy, with constant movement — the site is “alive.” BASHTA is visited by residents of nearby residential complexes, office workers, and those for whom it is “on the way.”


BASHTA Bachevsky is the first thing that comes to mind when someone suggests a meeting in the Pidzamche district — a brand and a place that has made its name through events, history, and services.
